Solar Junction Refreshes Battery Efficiency Record

A solar energy company in California said that it has developed a battery that broke the highest record of battery efficiency.

Solar Junction, based in Silicon Valley, USA, recently announced that its new solar photovoltaic multi-wired battery has achieved a maximum efficiency of 43.5%, which is the latest record of battery efficiency. This means that 43.5% of light will be absorbed by the cell and converted into electrical energy.

This record is mainly amplified by mirrors to solar cells up to 5.5 mm2.

The company also said it plans to continue to improve the research and development of solar cell efficiency. In addition, the company is applying for a loan from the U.S. Department of Energy to increase power generation to 250MW annually, and plans to commercialize photovoltaic cells by the end of the year.
