How to identify the pros and cons of pvc wire hose

When it comes to testing PVC steel wire tubes, many people find themselves without proper tools or conditions. However, you can still get a good sense of their quality by using your senses—sight, smell, and touch.

1. Check the shape of the inner and outer walls. A high-quality PVC steel tube should have a consistent circular shape with even wall thickness. For example, a standard 89mm diameter pipe with a 7mm wall thickness should have uniform thickness throughout. Poor quality tubes may have uneven walls, with some areas as thick as 7.5mm and others as thin as 5.5mm. This inconsistency can lead to bursting or deformation under pressure, which affects the pipe’s performance and safety.

2. Look for bubbles, impurities, or discoloration on the surface. High-quality PVC pipes are clear and free from any visible defects. If the pipe appears yellowed or cloudy, it might be due to improper storage, aging, or chemical decomposition during production.

3. Smell the pipe. Good quality PVC steel wire tubes have a mild plastic odor, but no strong chemical smells. On the other hand, low-quality ones often emit a pungent, diesel-like odor, especially in hot weather. This bad smell is a sign of poor materials or substandard manufacturing processes.

4. Feel the surface. High-quality PVC steel tubes have smooth inner and outer walls, while lower quality ones tend to feel rough or uneven to the touch. A smooth finish not only indicates better craftsmanship but also helps prevent damage over time.

5. When measuring the wall thickness, always cut off both ends of the pipe and take a sample from the middle. Some unscrupulous manufacturers may make the ends thicker to deceive buyers, but the actual wall thickness in the middle could be much thinner, leading to structural weakness.

6. Cut a small section from each end of the pipe and fold the steel wire multiple times. High-quality steel wire should be strong and flexible, able to withstand repeated folding without breaking. Low-quality wires, however, may snap after just one or two folds. The strength of the steel wire directly affects the durability and reliability of the entire pipe. Pipes with weak steel wire are more likely to deform or fail over time.
