At the recently concluded 13th China International Machine Tool Exhibition, Wu Bolin, Executive Vice President of the China Machine Tool Industry Association, shared his insights on the current state and future outlook of the industry. He emphasized that China's macroeconomic environment remains strong, and the machine tool sector is expected to see a recovery in 2013. This positive trend is driven by continued growth in key industries such as aerospace, energy, automotive, and rail transit, which are creating favorable conditions for the sector.
Wu noted that the machine tool industry’s total output value is projected to grow by approximately 10% in 2013, reflecting improved market dynamics. However, he also highlighted that the previous year, 2012, was challenging for domestic manufacturers. Market demand experienced significant shifts, with declining exports, slower investment, and weak domestic consumption contributing to a sharp drop in demand. At the same time, user industries were accelerating their structural adjustments and product upgrades, leading to higher expectations for machine tool performance and services.
According to statistics, new orders had been negative for 19 consecutive months as of December 2012, with a notable decline in demand for low-end products. Meanwhile, the import value of mid- to high-end machine tools remained high, underscoring a growing mismatch between China’s domestic production capabilities and market needs. This gap has become a critical issue, calling for urgent efforts to enhance the competitiveness of medium- and high-end machine tools produced domestically.
Wu pointed out that after over a decade of rapid expansion, the Chinese machine tool industry is now facing a difficult adjustment phase. While past growth brought significant achievements, the sector still lags in the middle and lower segments of the global industrial chain. With increasing demand for advanced technologies and the re-industrialization of developed nations, along with the expansion of international competitors into the mid-range market, competition is set to intensify further. This makes it even more crucial for the industry to improve its overall competitiveness.
To address these challenges, Wu suggested that machine tool manufacturers should leverage available resources, stay aligned with user needs, adjust their product structures, and comprehensively strengthen the market position of domestically produced medium- and high-end machine tools. Only through technological innovation, improved management, and enhanced workforce quality can the industry overcome its current difficulties and secure a stronger future.
Rod Seals
1. Components of piston rod seal:
Polyurethane, polyformaldehyde, rubber
2. Purpose and function of piston rod seal:
The rod seal belongs to the dynamic seal. It is the seal that moves with the piston rod. It is one of the important components on the hydraulic support.
3. Use position of piston rod seal:
Guide sleeve, piston
4. Working principle of piston rod seal:
It is used at the contact part between the guide sleeve and the outer cylinder to seal the emulsion in the outer cylinder.
5. What effects will be caused by improper use or operation of piston rod seal:
1. Improper selection of cavity support material will wear the cavity and piston rod.
2. The size of the friction pair is inappropriate, causing wear.
3. Improper thread guide angle of cylinder barrel and piston end wear the sealing ring.
4. The seal ring is worn due to improper installation guide angle of the seal.
5. The surface of cavity and piston rod is rough, with scratches and worn seals.
6. The outer cylinder leaks and the jack does not maintain pressure.
