In the first half of the year, China's polysilicon production was 62,000 tons, up 100% year-on-year; wafer production was 18GW, up 20% year-on-year; battery module production was 15.5GW, up 34.8% year-on-year. The export value of major photovoltaic products (silicon wafers, batteries, modules) was approximately US$8.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.9%. According to preliminary statistics, the total output value of China's photovoltaic manufacturing industry exceeded 150 billion yuan in the first half of the year.
The overall production and operation of the company is improving. As of the end of June 2014, the average price of polysilicon increased by 29.3% year-on-year, and the average price of components rose by 7.3%. In the production of polysilicon enterprises increased from 7 at the beginning of last year to 16, a number of backbone battery companies turned losses into profits, and some key enterprises to achieve continued profit.
The disorderly development situation has slowed down. The implementation of "Regulations for Photovoltaic Manufacturing Industry" has been valued by many parties in the industry, and some of the backward production capacity has begun to withdraw, and the industry adjustment trend is obvious. The willingness to merge and reorganize enterprises has become stronger and stronger, and the industrial concentration has been continuously improved. In the first half of the year, the output of the top 10 component enterprises in China accounted for nearly 60% of the total industry, and the top 5 polysilicon enterprises accounted for more than 80%.
Compared with the same period of last year, the investment in polysilicon and crystalline silicon battery production lines decreased, and the average comprehensive energy consumption of polysilicon production and silicon consumption per watt battery decreased by about 10%. The average conversion efficiency of single crystal and polycrystalline cells in backbone enterprises increased from 18.8% and 17.3% to 19.3% and 17.8%, respectively; the investment cost of photovoltaic power generation system dropped from about 10 yuan/watt to below 9 yuan/watt.
Local support policies have been introduced one after another, and photovoltaic applications are developing in a diversified direction. In the first half of this year, the installed capacity of grid-connected PV in the domestic PV market was about 3.3GW, of which about 1GW was distributed.
It is expected that with the development of international industry in the second half of the year, especially in the fourth quarter, the 10GW domestic installation target, China's photovoltaic industry may experience a leap-forward growth, and the industry will maintain a deep adjustment trend.
