How to raise yew?

The yew is highly ornamental and can purify the air. Many friends like to raise a yew at home. How should the yew be raised? Here is a brief introduction to the cultivation method of yew.

1. Soil

Taxus culture should be loose, rich in humus, water, fertilizer, and breathable soil. A mixed matrix of coke soil, perlite and the like can be used. Since the clay is not gas permeable, the sand has poor fertilizer and poor water retention, so it is not suitable for use.

2, fertilization

Taxus should not be applied with chemical fertilizers. Appropriate application of some fertilizers and cake fertilizers (such as cottonseed cakes, peanut cakes, and cakes) should be applied according to the environment. When applying fertilizer, it should be applied along the pot wall as much as possible, and should not be close to the roots of the yew. Generally, the newly purchased yew bonsai has its own nutritious soil, and it does not need to be fertilized in the first 3 months. It can be applied in 2 or 3 months.

3, lighting

The yew is like a cool growing environment, so it should be properly shaded during the breeding process. It should not be placed in a place with direct sunlight, which will cause the water of the yew to evaporate quickly, resulting in dehydration of the leaves and dry leaves. During the summer season, the yew can be placed in the living room, balcony, corner, etc. during the day, and in the evening, put it on the window sill. At the same time, no light will affect the growth of the yew, so in the climate where the sun is not strong, it should be properly exposed to sunlight.

4, watering

The normal yew leaves are straight and bright. If the leaves are euphemistic, they should be watered. If the leaves are drooping, the water shortage is serious. In addition, you can also judge whether you need watering by tapping the sound of the basin. If the sound is very empty when you tap the basin, it means the soil is dry and the water is watered. Insert the soil into the soil 2-3 cm with your fingers. If you feel the soil is dry, you need to water it. Generally, the yew placed outdoors is watered once every 15-20 days, and once in the room for 20-25 days, it is best to keep the moisture content of the soil at about 40%.

In different periods, plants need different amounts of water. During the growing season (March to November), more water is needed, and during the dormant period (December to February), less water is needed. Spring and autumn seasons are usually poured once every 5 to 7 days, in summer, 3-5 days, and watered for 7 to 10 days in winter, that is, once poured. However, it should be noted that yew should not be watered with tea water. Too much watering will cause the yew to rot.

5, the growth environment of yew

The yew does not have much requirements for the growing environment. The main thing is that it cannot be directly exposed to the sun. In the summer, it cannot be blown to the air conditioner. In winter, it cannot be close to the heating, and it is not allowed to throw cigarette butts, tea and other debris into the culture pot. The growth of the cedar has an adverse effect. Pots for breeding yew should be slightly larger, and a few holes can be placed in the lower part of the pot to enhance the water permeability and permeability of the pot.

6, trimming of yew bonsai

When the branches of the yew bonsai grow too densely, when the dry yellow leaves fall off, the lower dense branches can be trimmed and cut into umbrella, tower, and round shapes. When the yew is changed, if the nutrient supply of the roots to the roots and branches is not kept up, and the leaves are curled and dried, the nutrients can be reduced by the pruning to quickly restore the root growth.

7, transplant basin

About a year after the new yew culture, the saplings will grow up and the roots will be developed. Therefore, transplanting is needed. When changing the basin, the old pot can be broken, but don't damage the original soil ball. After moving it into the new pot, water the roots in time to make the roots of the yew and the soil tightly combined.
