Earthmoving machinery operating procedures

(-)-General Safety Requirements

1. Always place the clutch and shift lever in neutral before starting the engine. While driving, ensure that no one is in front of the road, track, or tire by giving a clear signal. When parking, stop the track completely.

2. Personnel should not climb on or off the machine or transfer objects while it's moving. Avoid straddling the machine or any equipment being towed. On steep slopes, avoid turning or lateral movement. Never coast downhill without power. Do not shift gears when going up or down a slope.

3. Never perform any work under the machine while the engine is running. Refrain from making repairs or adjustments while in motion.

4. When crossing obstacles such as exposed pipes, cables, or wire ropes, use wooden planks or boards to protect the area.

5. If underground pipelines, cables, or structures are encountered during construction, stop immediately and report to the relevant authorities. Do not attempt to drag, push, or shovel anything buried underground.

6. If the engine stops while working on a slope, secure the vehicle and plug the track. When leaving the machine, lower the bucket or fork and turn off the engine.

7. Wire ropes must not be used for general lifting purposes. If the rope on the winch becomes twisted, re-spool it properly. Replace the rope if wear or corrosion exceeds acceptable limits.

(2) Tractor

1. When pulling unmanned mechanical equipment, no one should sit on the object being pulled. If anyone is between the tractor and the towed item, do not move. When using a wire rope to pull heavy loads, ensure people stay away once the load is secured.

2. The equipment being towed must have a secure and stable connection.

3. When hauling special components, assign a dedicated person to direct the operation.

(3) Bulldozer

1. When pushing soil near the edge of a slope, do not push beyond the edge. After shifting gears, lift the blade slightly before proceeding.

2. Remove large rocks, obstacles, or pits before starting work. When removing buildings, trees, or poles, take proper safety measures and choose a safe location.

3. When descending a steep slope, lower the blade and reverse carefully.

4. Always lower the blade during maintenance. If you need to inspect under the blade, secure it with a wooden block. Never work or inspect under a suspended blade.

(4) Scraper

1. Do not travel unless the bucket is locked in transport position. A safety wire rope must be installed between the tractor and the bucket.

2. When operating on a slope, never reverse while unloading soil.

3. No one is allowed on the bucket or rack while the scraper is working. Plate-type buckets must not be operated from the rear after the pusher has moved.

4. Maintain a minimum distance of 20 meters between multiple machines working together.

5. For maintenance and inspection, follow the same guidelines as for the bulldozer (see section 4).

(5) Excavator

1. Avoid digging too deep or applying excessive force. Do not change the boom angle when the bucket is fully loaded.

2. Never rotate the bucket while it's still in contact with the ground. Avoid scraping the surface with the side of the bucket or striking it sideways.

3. Be cautious of falling rocks when excavating cliffs. Maintain a safe distance from trenches to prevent tipping over.

4. When unloading into a truck, keep the bucket low, insert it into the truck bed, and open the bottom to unload. Do not cross over the bucket from the cab. Never unload when there are people or obstacles nearby.

5. When transporting an excavator, stop the rotating platform, align the boom parallel to the tracks, and ensure the head does not exceed 1 meter above the ground. When going uphill, position the drive wheels at the rear left. When going downhill, place them at the front. Slopes should not exceed 20 degrees in either direction.

6. When the excavator stops, always lower the bucket to the ground and never leave it hanging in the air.

7. Observe the hydraulic system when operating the excavator to ensure smooth and safe performance.

(6) Universal Loader

1. Never exceed the specified load capacity. Do not carry small or unstable items that could tip over.

2. Do not lift cargo when the loader is tilted forward. Do not drive until the bucket is fully tilted back. Always apply brakes before lifting. Keep the lowest point of the bucket or forks 300–400 mm above the ground, and ensure no one is on the bucket or forks.

3. Approach the load slowly within 8–4 meters, and use gentle force when pushing.

4. Ensure the center of gravity of the load is centered between the two fork arms. Never lift with just one fork arm.

5. If the machine loses stability, drop the load immediately to prevent accidents.
