To better understand the pros and cons of stainless steel kitchenware, checking the label is essential. A properly labeled stainless steel kitchen utensil should meet several key requirements. First, the information on the product and its packaging must match. Second, it should include a production license, quality certificate, QS mark, and certification number issued by a national authority. Third, the label must display the Chinese product name, manufacturer’s name, and address. Fourth, the specifications, grade, and main ingredients should be clearly listed. Fifth, if there are important instructions for safe use, such as proper cleaning or operation methods, these should be included on the packaging or provided to the consumer in advance. Lastly, if the product could potentially cause harm due to misuse, it must have warning signs or Chinese instructions. According to China’s “Food Safety National Standard for Stainless Steel Products” (GB 9684-2011), stainless steel kitchenware must also indicate that it is suitable for food contact and specify the type of stainless steel used, such as 304 or 202. These details help ensure the product meets safety standards. Additionally, the model number on the label can give consumers an idea of the product’s quality. For example, 304 stainless steel is generally considered high quality, though it may come at a higher price. The 202 series, while more affordable, tends to be slightly inferior.
