Chlorothalonil is a non-systemic, broad-spectrum fungicide widely used to prevent and manage fungal diseases across various crops. It is effective against a range of diseases affecting food crops, peanuts, vegetables, melons, fruit trees, and tea. As a low-toxicity compound, it is commonly applied in agricultural practices due to its safety profile and effectiveness. The best time to apply chlorothalonil is before or at the early stages of disease development for optimal results.
Here’s how to use chlorothalonil effectively:
1. **Rice Blast Control**: Begin spraying when leaf mites appear, applying every 7 days. For ear mites, spray during the rice heading stage. Use 75% chlorothalonil WP at 1500–1900 g/ha (1125–1425 g active ingredient), mixed with 1050 liters of water.
2. **Rice Sheath Blight**: Apply in the early stages of disease or during the booting period. Spray once every 7 days. Use the same dosage as above, focusing on the rice stems.
3. **Wheat Leaf Rust and Spot**: Start spraying at the first sign of disease, repeating every 7 days for 2–3 applications. Use 1500–1900 g/ha of 75% WP, diluted in 1050 liters of water.
4. **Peanut Diseases (Rust, Brown Spot, Black Spot)**: Spray at the onset of symptoms, every 7–10 days for 2–3 times. Use 1500–1800 g/ha of 75% WP or 1500–2250 g/ha of 40% Dakoning suspension, mixed with 900 liters of water.
5. **Cucumber Downy Mildew**: Begin application before or at the start of the disease, every 7 days for 3–4 sprays. Use 2200–4000 g/ha of 75% WP or 2250–2625 g/ha of 40% suspension. In greenhouses, smoke formulations are also effective.
6. **Tomato Early Blight**: Spray at the first signs, every 7–10 days for 3–4 applications. Use 2200–4000 g/ha of 75% WP or 2250–2625 g/ha of 40% suspension, mixed with 1125 liters of water.
7. **Cabbage Black Spot and Downy Mildew**: Spray at the early stage of disease, every 7–10 days for 2–3 times. Use 2300 g/ha of 75% WP, mixed with 900 liters of water.
8. **Bean Diseases (Rust, Gray Mold, Anthracnose)**: Apply at the beginning of the disease, every 7 days for 3–4 times. Use 1700–2300 g/ha of 75% WP, mixed with 900 liters of water.
9. **Potato Late Blight, Early Blight, and Gray Mold**: Spray before the potato canopy closes, every 7–10 days. Use 2300 g/ha of 75% WP, mixed with 900 liters of water.
10. **Tomato Leaf Mold, Verticillium Wilt, and Anthracnose**: Spray at the first sign, every 7 days. Use 1700–2300 g/ha of 75% WP, mixed with 900 liters of water.
11. **Eggplant and Sweet Pepper Anthracnose and Early Blight**: Spray at the early stage, every 7 days for 3–4 times. Use 1700–2300 g/ha of 75% WP, mixed with 900 liters of water.
12. **Melon Downy and Powdery Mildew**: Apply at the start of the disease, every 7 days until the disease stops. Use 1600–2200 g/ha of 75% WP, mixed with 900 liters of water.
13. **Grape Powdery Mildew and Black Rot**: Spray during early flowering or two weeks after, every 7–10 days. Use a 600–700 times dilution of 75% WP.
14. **Pear Tree Rust**: Spray before and after flowering (March to April), up to three times if needed. Use 75% WP at 7 times dilution.
15. **Apple Anthracnose**: Begin spraying in early June, every 15 days for 4–5 applications. Use 500 g/ha of 75% WP per spray.
16. **Citrus Scab and Smut**: Start spraying after petals fall, every 10–14 days for 2–3 times. Use 75% WP at 800–1000 times dilution.
17. **Tea Anthracnose**: Spray during the germination stage of summer and autumn tea, every 7–10 days for 2–3 times. Use 75% WP at 600–800 times dilution.
Always follow label instructions and ensure proper mixing and application techniques for best results.
