The green control and implementation of crops has expanded from the original vegetables and fruits to rice, wheat, corn, cotton, tea trees, etc. More than 200 green prevention and control demonstration zones have been established in provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), with an area of ​​nearly 500 million mu of prevention and control, with a coverage rate of about 20%.

In 2007, the Ministry of Agriculture launched the national green prevention and control demonstration zone construction pilot project, organized experts to develop a variety of crop green prevention and control technology programs, and develop green prevention and control products. According to Ye Haoqin, according to the regional distribution of crops and the occurrence of pests and diseases, China has formed a biological control model based on Metarhizium and Microsporidia in the aphid breeding area; it has promoted sexual attraction and killing in the dominant areas of vegetables, fruits and tea. Insect-based insecticidal mode; a biocontrol model of corn borer dominated by Trichogramma was formed in the main maize producing areas of Northeast China.

However, due to the imbalance between green prevention and control areas and crop development, product research and development efforts are insufficient, and prevention and control costs are higher than pesticides in the short term, and the scope and scale of implementation of green prevention and control are still limited.

Ye said that green prevention and control is directly related to the health of the people and the increase in production and income of farmers. It must be developed in accordance with the "government support, optimization of technology, security, and multi-promotion." The Ministry of Agriculture will establish 100 national-level green prevention and control demonstration zones throughout the country, and strive to make the number of 10,000-mu demonstration zones reach 500 at the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan. In addition, in order to promote the popularization of prevention and control technology, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to train 1,000 grassroots plant protection stations, leading enterprises in agricultural bases and teachers of professional cooperative organizations within three years.
