Harbin guards winter training wear gas mask off-road

From January 12th, the Harbin police headquarters launched a four-day field training exercise involving over 150 officials from government agencies, reserve reconnaissance units, and local armed forces. Participants were equipped with professional gear, including gas masks, and trained in harsh winter conditions to enhance their capabilities in diverse missions. The goal was to strengthen the readiness of both regular officers and militia reservists under extreme environments.

The garrison area’s party committee focused on key tasks such as combat, emergency response, rescue operations, maintenance, and security during the training. Emphasis was placed on realistic scenarios and practical application, ensuring that all exercises mirrored actual battlefield conditions. By integrating discipline, training, and real-world practice, the initiative aimed to deepen understanding, improve operational efficiency, and boost emergency response capabilities, resulting in significant progress.

During the training, soldiers practiced marching through narrow forest paths, steep mountain slopes, and open icy terrain, pushing themselves to the limits to maximize performance. This challenging environment not only tested their physical endurance but also sharpened their mental resilience. Equipment failures due to low temperatures and battery issues were common, especially with anti-chemical warfare tools. However, Li Peng, a repair technician, came up with an innovative solution inspired by the double-layer insulation principle of a thermos. His simple insulated cover improved device functionality in freezing conditions and extended battery life significantly.

The training program included more than 10 subjects, such as map reading, camouflage techniques, night marches, communication equipment operation, rapid mobilization, anti-air raid drills, and cross-fire maneuvers. These exercises were designed to enhance command coordination, skill development, and overall preparedness. Every aspect of the training was carefully planned to ensure that participants gained valuable experience and improved their tactical abilities.

Despite temperatures dropping to -40°C, the determination of the troops remained unwavering. Commanders Sun Gang and Zhao Ching-yang led from the front, sharing the same rigorous training as the soldiers. Their presence greatly boosted morale, encouraging the team to push through the cold and face challenges head-on. As a result, the officers and militiamen demonstrated strong willpower, perseverance, and a fighting spirit, reflecting their commitment to duty and resilience in tough conditions.

According to reports, during the training, soldiers covered over 230 kilometers on fully motorized motorcycles across icy roads, while others marched more than 70 kilometers carrying 20 kilograms of gear through snow-covered forests. These achievements highlighted the enhanced discipline, mental toughness, and combat readiness of the participating units.
