5 categories of wallpaper selection skills and daily maintenance knowledge

1. Wallpaper Classification and Introduction——————————————————————————

Based on Appearance: There are several types of wallpapers, including printed wallpaper, embossed wallpaper, foam (relief) wallpaper, printed and embossed wallpaper, embossed foam wallpaper, printed foam wallpaper, and more. These variations mainly come from the combination of three basic processes: surface printing, embossing, and foaming. Each unique design is created by blending these techniques in different ways.

By Function: Wallpapers can also be categorized by their purpose. Decorative wallpaper is the most commonly used type, offering a wide range of patterns and styles. Waterproof wallpaper is ideal for areas like bathrooms or kitchens, while fire-resistant wallpaper is designed for safety in specific environments. Other specialized types include soundproof and anti-mold options.

By Installation Method: There are two main types: traditional wallpaper that requires adhesive to be applied on-site, and self-adhesive wallpaper, which comes with a pre-applied adhesive layer. The latter is easier to install, as you simply remove the protective paper and stick it directly to the wall.

By Surface Material:

1) Paper-based Wallpaper: Also known as composite wallpaper, this type is made by pressing paper and backing together, then printing, embossing, and coating. It's affordable and has good transparency, but it’s not water-resistant, easily torn, and difficult to clean.

2) Fabric Surface Wallpaper: Made from materials like cotton, silk, or synthetic fibers, it offers a soft and elegant look. Some fabric wallpapers reflect light beautifully, making them ideal for luxurious spaces. However, they tend to be more expensive.

3) Natural Material Wallpaper: This includes wallpapers made from grass, wood, or leaves, giving a rustic and natural feel. While aesthetically pleasing, they are less durable and not suitable for high-traffic areas due to poor fire resistance.

4) PVC Wallpaper: A popular choice, PVC wallpaper is made with polyvinyl chloride resin. It comes in three types: ordinary, foam, and functional. Ordinary PVC is lightweight and versatile, while foam types offer texture and sound absorption. Functional PVC may include waterproof or fire-resistant properties.

5) Sand Surface Wallpaper: This type features colored sand sprinkled onto a base material and coated with an adhesive. It’s easy to clean and less harmful, making it a safe option for homes.

6) Metal Surface Wallpaper: Made with copper or aluminum foil, it adds a metallic sheen and is often used in commercial spaces like bars or ballrooms. Its thin layers give it a luxurious appearance.

● Rubber Surface vs. Plain Paper Wallpaper: Rubber surface wallpaper has a thick, textured surface that is resistant to scratches, while plain paper wallpaper is smooth and colorful, popular in European interiors for its vibrant designs.

● Wallpaper vs. Wall Covering: The main difference lies in the base material—wallpaper uses paper, while wall coverings use cloth. Wall coverings are more durable and long-lasting but have fewer color options and are typically used in large-scale projects rather than residential settings.
