CCMT, the China CNC Machine Tools Exhibition, is the sister event to the China International Machine Tool Exhibition (CIMT). Established in 2000 by the China Machine Tool & Tool Industry Association, CCMT was created to showcase China’s advancements in CNC machine tools. Over the years, it has grown into a significant platform for domestic and international exhibitors.
But what does an "upgraded version" mean? It's not just about catching up with CIMT—it's a step toward becoming a world-class exhibition. The ultimate goal is to position CCMT on par with global leaders like EMO. After all, China has been the largest consumer market for machine tools for over a decade. Why, then, isn’t our exhibition among the top in the world? The best exhibitions should be held in the biggest markets. For CCMT2014, the organizers are committed to making this vision a reality.
So how do we achieve this upgrade? Three key directions have been identified: internationalization, specialization, and informatization.
**1. Internationalization**
Internationalization means two things: attracting more international exhibitors and aligning the exhibition’s standards with global practices. In the past, CCMT mainly focused on domestic participants, with only a few foreign exhibitors. This was due to historical limitations before China joined the WTO and had less openness. But times have changed. Now, the goal is to make CCMT fully international. While the 2014 edition won’t be completely global yet, there will be a noticeable shift—over 30% of exhibitors will be from abroad, and their space will exceed one-third of the total area. That’s a big improvement. However, full internationalization remains the long-term target. The organization and management must also follow international standards, learning from top events worldwide.
**2. Specialization**
Specialization is a hallmark of world-class exhibitions. Currently, both CCMT and CIMT lack a highly specialized layout, unlike leading exhibitions in Germany, the U.S., or Japan. A mixed layout can be confusing for visitors, buyers, and exhibitors alike. To address this, CCMT2014 will introduce a more structured and focused exhibition layout, making it easier for everyone to navigate and engage.
**3. Informatization**
The use of digital platforms is crucial for modern exhibitions. We need to build a robust online system that offers better, faster, and more professional services to exhibitors, buyers, and attendees. Although progress has been slow, the gap is clear. We must accelerate the development of a tailored information platform that supports the unique needs of CCMT and CIMT.
The path is clear, and the effort is underway. With a focus on internationalization, specialization, and informatization, CCMT is moving toward its upgraded version. Success depends not only on the organizers but also on the active participation of exhibitors and partners. Together, we believe we can achieve this ambitious goal.
