Water-soluble fertilizers are showing great potential in the agricultural sector. In recent years, with the rapid development of the industry, companies like Xindu Chemicals and Shenzhen Baotian have made significant technological advancements in improving the purity and particle size of water-soluble fertilizers. These improvements have enabled high-speed integration of water and fertilizer, marking a new phase in agricultural technology.
At the Fourth China International Water-Soluble Fertilizer High-Level Forum and Functional Liquid Fertilizer Symposium held in Nanning, Guangxi, on March 30th, Gao Xiangzhao, Director of the Water Saving Department at the National Agricultural Technology Promotion Center, highlighted that “The era of traditional fertilizers is over, and a new era of water-soluble fertilizers is coming.†This statement resonated strongly with over 300 participants, including experts, company representatives, and agricultural distributors.
According to Gao, with China's 900 million mu of irrigated land, only 3.2% currently uses water-fertilizer integration. However, 450 million mu of farmland has significant potential for development. The market for water-soluble fertilizers is growing rapidly, with output exceeding 2 million tons last year. Despite challenges such as rising costs of coal, natural gas, labor, and transportation, the fertilizer market has not seen an upward trend, especially during the winter storage season when demand typically peaks.
With overcapacity in compound fertilizers, competition is intensifying. Under these conditions, water-soluble fertilizers and irrigation systems are becoming key tools for companies to enhance their competitiveness. Li Tie Shen, deputy director of the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, emphasized that water-soluble fertilizers align with the country’s broader development goals, promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. He believes that integrating water and fertilizer will be a top priority in addressing agricultural challenges.
Zhang Chenglin from South China Agricultural University noted that countries like the U.S., France, Australia, Canada, and Israel have successfully adopted liquid and water-soluble fertilizers, particularly through drip irrigation systems. In China, the market has also grown rapidly—output increased from 600,000 tons in 2010 to over 2 million tons by 2012. Registration numbers also reflect this growth, with 4,539 products registered nationwide by January 2013—an increase of 32.3% compared to 2012.
A key improvement in the new international standard for water-soluble fertilizers is the reduction of insoluble matter from 5% to 0.5%, which helps prevent clogging in irrigation systems. This change was widely discussed at the forum, with many emphasizing its importance for long-term system efficiency.
Despite the growth, the market remains chaotic, with many manufacturers and inconsistent product quality. Farmers who experience issues may lose trust in the entire category. Zhang Chenglin pointed out that using water-soluble fertilizers requires technical knowledge, such as selecting appropriate irrigation systems, managing nutrient balance, and understanding water quality.
By 2015, the Ministry of Agriculture aims to promote water-fertilizer integration across 80 million mu of farmland, adding more than 50 million mu. This initiative is expected to save 50% of water, reduce fertilizer use by 30%, and increase yields by 20% for grain crops, while boosting economic crop income by 600 yuan per mu.
Guangxi, a major agricultural region, plays a crucial role in this development. With vast areas of sugarcane, fruit, and vegetable cultivation, it relies heavily on chemical fertilizers. The region also needs efficient irrigation systems, especially in its mountainous drylands, to support sustainable farming practices.
Hydraulic Accessories
A hydraulic accessory is a component or attachment that enhances the functionality or performance of a hydraulic system. These accessories are designed to work in conjunction with hydraulic systems to provide additional capabilities or improve efficiency. Some common hydraulic accessories include:
1. Hydraulic cylinders: These are devices that convert hydraulic power into linear mechanical force and motion. They are used in various applications such as construction equipment, industrial machinery, and automotive systems.
2. Hydraulic pumps: These are devices that generate hydraulic power by converting mechanical energy into fluid pressure. They are responsible for providing the necessary force to operate hydraulic systems.
3. Hydraulic valves: These are devices that control the flow and direction of hydraulic fluid within a system. They are used to regulate the pressure, flow rate, and direction of fluid to ensure proper operation and safety.
4. Hydraulic filters: These are components that remove contaminants from hydraulic fluid to maintain system cleanliness and prevent damage to hydraulic components. They help to prolong the life of the system and improve its performance.
5. Hydraulic hoses and fittings: These are components that connect various parts of a hydraulic system together, allowing the transfer of hydraulic fluid between different components. They are designed to withstand high pressures and ensure leak-free operation.
6. Hydraulic reservoirs: These are containers that store hydraulic fluid for the system. They help to maintain the fluid level, dissipate heat, and remove air bubbles from the fluid.
7. Hydraulic power units: These are self-contained systems that include a Hydraulic Pump, motor, reservoir, and control valves. They are used in applications where a standalone hydraulic power source is required.
8. Hydraulic accumulators: These are devices that store hydraulic energy in the form of pressurized fluid. They are used to supplement the power output of hydraulic systems during peak demand periods or to provide emergency power in case of system failure.
These are just a few examples of hydraulic accessories, and there are many more available in the market to meet specific application requirements.
