The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced that the pass rate of the software sofa product quality inspection results is 86.7%

In recent news, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine released a public announcement regarding the results of the 2013 National Product Quality Supervision and Random Inspection. As part of their ongoing efforts to ensure product safety and quality, they conducted a nationwide random inspection of 36 different types of consumer goods, including building decoration materials, agricultural production supplies, industrial products, and more. Any unqualified products and their respective manufacturers were dealt with according to legal procedures. Among the inspected items, the quality evaluation of soft furniture, particularly sofas, revealed some concerning findings. Out of 90 randomly selected sofa batches, 12 failed the inspection, resulting in an overall pass rate of 86.7%. Brands such as Palace Emperor, Yabo, and Ouyada were among those that did not meet the required standards, primarily due to issues with the apparent density of the seat surface and Other structural components. During the fourth quarter of 2013, the General Administration carried out spot checks on soft sofa products manufactured by 90 companies across 20 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, and Shaanxi. The testing was conducted in accordance with the QB/T 1952.1-2012 "Soft Furniture - Sofa" standard and other relevant regulations. The evaluation covered various aspects, including wooden and metal parts, foam plastics (with a focus on apparent density of the seat and other areas), resilience, compression permanent deformation, physical and chemical properties of fabric coverings (such as dry rubbing fastness, acid perspiration color fastness, and alkali perspiration color fastness), mechanical performance (including durability of seats, backs, and armrests, as well as seat surface compression tests), and safety performance. The inspection found that 12 batches of products did not meet the required standards. Issues included problems with wooden and metal components, the apparent density of the seat and other areas, foam resilience, color fastness of textile fabrics to acid and sweat, durability of the sofa's seat, back, and armrests, seat surface compression, foam plastic quality, and safety performance. These findings highlight the importance of strict compliance with industry standards to ensure consumer safety and product reliability. (Editor: Peter)
