**About the Qingming Festival:**
The Qingming Festival, also known as the Tomb-Sweeping Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the transition between spring and summer, approximately 108 days after the winter solstice. It is one of the most significant festivals in Chinese culture, dedicated to honoring ancestors by visiting and cleaning their graves. This custom dates back to the Zhou Dynasty, over 2,500 years ago, and has been widely practiced across various ethnic groups in China, including the Manchu, Hezhe, Zhuang, Oroqen, Yi, Tujia, Miao, Yao, Li, Shui, Jing, and others.
According to the ancient "Almanac," "After the fifteenth day following the Spring Equinox, when everything becomes clear and bright, it is called Qingming." As temperatures rise during this time, it marks an ideal season for spring farming, hence the saying, "Plant beans before and after Qingming."
The festival is believed to have originated from the ancient imperial practice of tomb worship, which later became a widespread tradition among the people. On May 20, 2006, the Qingming Festival was officially recognized by the State Council as part of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
