When using a hydraulic gear pump, it's essential to maintain the cleanliness of the working oil. To ensure this, it's recommended to install an oil filter with a filtration accuracy of 80–100 micrometers on the suction line of the pump. Additionally, a finer filter with a minimum filtration accuracy of 25 micrometers should be placed on the return line. Regular cleaning and replacement of these filters based on oil contamination levels are crucial for optimal performance.

If your gear pump is equipped with an oil filter, make sure that the effective flow rate of the filter is greater than twice the maximum oil suction flow of the pump. This helps prevent blockages and ensures smooth operation. Always check the filter regularly and clean or replace it as needed.

Before starting the pump, it’s important to fill it with oil and purge any air from the system. This prevents cavitation and damage during initial operation. It’s best to loosen a pipe joint in the pressure line, briefly engage the power source to let the oil flow out until no air bubbles are visible, and then re-tighten the joint. This step is critical — skipping it can lead to early failure of the pump. After installation, run the pump under no-load conditions for at least 10 minutes before applying a short load to ensure everything operates smoothly.

The operating temperature of the gear pump should not exceed 80°C during continuous use, and should not go above 120°C even temporarily. Exceeding these limits can cause premature aging of the seals and other components, leading to leaks and reduced efficiency. Monitoring the temperature and ensuring proper cooling is essential for long-term reliability.
